Our sweet little Oliver passed away unexpectedly today. I still really don’t have the words other than thank you, thank you for letting me be your mom, thank you for letting Ricky be your dad and thank you Olivia and Ed for rescuing him and bring him into our lives. You were sweet and rowdy and quirky and soft and loving and in your short life you brought so much joy into this world and into our lives and to everyone that met you. It isn’t ever long enough. I stopped drinking six years ago today. There was a time when I really didn’t think I could go six days without alcohol. I will always celebrate this anniversary because sobriety is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. The clarity of being sober, just feeling clear, finally gave me the strength to start caring about myself more, it’s given me the confidence to be a better tattooer and a better partner, a better friend and a better person, and I am and always will be grateful beyond words. To everyone who has believed in me, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart and it means the world to me. If anyone is thinking about getting sober, even if you don’t feel like you’re an addict but you party too much and you don’t know how to start to put the breaks on it, I am always here to listen without judgement. I believe that a cover up should also be a tattoo that you want to wear. Cover ups generally need to be much larger than the tattoo they’re going over top of so that the new tattoo has enough room to be a balanced design as well as a cover up. I really appreciate Katrina for her understanding of the cover up process and really going for it with a full side thigh piece to get all the design elements she wanted in it as well as the cover up that started the whole journey, you’re awesome!

It was a long time in coming but we finished up this full leg sleeve for Barry of wilderness and seven bears to represent his family. We grayed out an existing tattoo, instead of covering it up, to draw less attention to it. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your commitment to this project!
