🌀Suhailah Abdelaziz @su3hailah is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Riyadh. Since 2023, she has been creating hand-dyed textile pieces @thirdculturechild_ that blend ritual, intuition, and playfulness. Working with natural fabrics and indigo, Suhailah folds, binds and layers her materials slowly, allowing patterns to emerge through repetition and care. The circle is a recurring motif in her work; a symbol of wholeness, harmony, and endless becoming in her path. Her practice dwells in the space between cultures and identities, quiet meditation on transformation, memory, and belonging. PLAYFUL DISRUPTION June 20 - August 20, 2025 7 - 9 pm Abdullah Al Jahdhami is a Saudi artist who shifted from mechanical engineering to the world of art and visual culture. His work explores nostalgia as a tool for reconstructing identity by integrating childhood memories, media archives, and found objects collected online. In his upcoming solo exhibition, PLAYFUL DISRUPTION at @galeriebrigitteschenk , Abdullah examines how collective and personal memories ranging from dubbed anime to war propaganda shape who we are. What began as a search into the day he was born evolved into a journey of reclaiming a fragmented identity through images, toys, and household items found across digital platforms. Through playful yet critical compositions, he revisits the blurred boundary between media, memory, and politics. His work invites us to reflect: What part of our identity is truly ours, and what part has been imposed on us? Sports Boulevard Arts Tower by Abdulnasser Gharem Photography by Abdul Majeed Al Rodhan @majeed86 Abdulnasser Gharem’s „Arts Tower“ is one of the prominent landmarks within the Sports Boulevard project at the Promenade destination in Riyadh, specifically at the intersection of Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road and Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz Al Awwal Road. “The contemporary scene in the Kingdom is witnessing a conscious shift toward diversifying the economy and investing in cultural infrastructure. The Arts Tower profoundly embodies this transformation. By repurposing a symbol of energy infrastructure and turning it into a beacon of artistic expression, Gharem highlights the evolving role of culture and art in Saudi Arabia’s development journey. This act shows that culture, just like energy, is a fundamental infrastructure worth investing in. It stands as living proof of the Kingdom’s commitment to nurturing its cultural landscape, making arts and creativity an inseparable part of its identity just as oil and energy were in the past.” Nato Thompson, author and curator As in many places, the electricity pylons that characterized the land- and cityscape in the recent past are disappearing in and around Riyadh and the power lines are running underground. The use of electricity by humans only dates back to the middle of the 19th century (a relatively short period of time) and is the most important transformative invention for mankind - without it, nothing would be possible today in the digital age. The skeletons of the pylons resemble dinosaur skeletons. When Abdulnasser Gharem was commissioned to design a public sculpture for the Sports Boulevard project, some of the old pylons were still there, without any function, which inspired him to create this 84 m high artwork with colored, transparent panels. It visually and physically preserves one of the most important moments for modern cultural consciousness since the invention of fire. @natothompson @gharemstudio @abdulnassergharem @sportsblvdsa
