To kick out the detailed #emorybeforeandafter I thought I would start with the 1968 911K that we finished in 2018. I gave it this name because it was inspired by the legendary 908K. I had the opportunity to be the caretaker, restorer, and occasional driver of the #6 Vic Elford 1968 908K. We got the 908K in 2007 and from the moment I laid hands on that car I couldn’t help but think how cool it would be to build a 911 inspired by it as if I was building a 911 at home while working for the factory in 1968 building 908’s.
Starting with a customer supplied 1968 short wheelbase 911 that was a complete basket case it was a perfect candidate for this 908K inspired build.
There are endless details in this car inside out and underneath. To highlight a few of them, we did the gas filler through the fender positioned and styled after the #908K oil cap, which is in the same location. Utilizing amber fiberglass on a flat fan set up from

One of my favorite things on the car is the wheel design. It brought lots of challenges because we wanted to do a center lock hub, which had never been done before on a slab side no flare 911.
@designsgreenwood designed the wheel and I reached out to my pal
@mattcrooke to build the 908K inspired wheel with a flat face and set up for a custom set of center lock hubs from
@jimtorresracing The final wheels exceeded my expectation and the fitment with the hubs was perfect. We went with a 15 inch wheel and a Vintage
@pirelli tire. We also had to build a custom set of rear trailing arms to accept the hubs and narrow things up so that we could get big brakes behind the wheels that we also custom built.
On the interior, we kept the car very raw and simple like the 908K. Seats were done in a red nomex fire resistant felt.
The car weighs right under 2000 pounds with just over 200hp, close ratio gearbox, special coil over set up from
@kw_suspension the end result is a fun, raw, and exciting short wheelbase 911.
This was also the first car painted by
@littleshopofkustoms which was the beginning of a lifelong partnership.
