A little demo I made for class this semester while teaching a workflow for sculpting a human form in blender and texturing with vertex paint. It's really remarkable what's achievable and accessible with free software right now. Spent alot of time this year figuring out the best way to bring these techniques to the classroom.

I’m not one to gush too hard on main, but everyone better go wish @getrichnever a very happy birthday because he deserves it. Art lover, great with small furry creatures, cheese appreciator, fashionista, and one who is funny and kind to boot (he would be annoyed if I said these things make him a quintessential libra, but hey ⚖️). I’m so lucky I get to travel the world with this charming man! ♥️

REGISTRATION LINK IN BIO. Please join us Friday January 24th at the OCADU Mix Animation Studio for a lecture from Academy award winning animator Chris Landreth. Chris will be delivering a version of his Making Faces Masterclass, a lecture which focuses on the technical and anatomical aspects of facial animation. You will learn the alphabet of the language of human faces. This alphabet is known as FACS, the Facial Action Coding System, developed by pioneer psychologist Paul Ekman 40 years ago, a system used by character animators and animation studios universally to this day.
Chris Landreth (b. 1961) is an American animator based in Canada, best known for his Oscar-winning short film Ryan (2004). Formerly an engineer with a background in theoretical and applied mechanics, Landreth transitioned to animation in the 1990s. His work includes The End, Bingo, and The Listener. As well as his achievements in animation he also works in software development, in the mid 90’s he was hired to contribute to the development of animation software like Maya. Chris Currently works as Co Founder & Creative Officer of Jali Research a company which creates directable tools for dialogue on rigged 3d characters. JALI software has been used by several major animation and game studios including CD Projekt RED for Cyberpunk 2077.
This lecture has limited capacity and is restricted to OCADU students and faculty. Please register on the Eventbrite.

Had so much fun this semester teaching a course for @ocadu_experimental_animation focused on experimenting with 3d simulations. The interplay between intentionality and accident inherent in the process of using simulations in 3d animation is one of the elements that attracted me to this medium. It was a blast to get to play around with the simulation possibilities in Blender over a semester with a fantastic group of students.
This was supposed to be a quick hair dynamics demo for a class but I ended up playing around with it for a couple of weeks. Audio by mememusic117 on tiktok
