Blackcurrants.
Not just a flavour.
An actual plant. Growing. Outside. Like nature intended.
Here are a few things about blackcurrant plants that feel made up but aren’t:
• Blackcurrants grow on small woody shrubs that thrive in cooler climates. They’re tough little overachievers.
• The berries grow in hanging clusters called strigs, which sounds fake but unfortunately isn’t.
• The leaves smell intensely… green. Like someone turned “plant” up to full volume.
• Blackcurrant plants have been grown in Europe for centuries, mostly because people realised they’re wildly intense for such small fruit.
• The berries are so strong on their own they’re rarely eaten straight off the bush. They prefer to make a statement instead.
Tiny fruit. Serious attitude.
Honestly, blackcurrants were always destined for JOLS.
