The room was overflowing with joy, curiosity, rhythm, and movement as we explored arts + unity from across the African diaspora, spotlighting iconic artists whose work continues to shape culture, creativity, and community.

Our very first graduating @getempowered class in Oakland back in 2016, our incredible pilot program youth from Aspire Schools.
This phenomenal group helped shape the foundation of everything @getempowered has grown into today. From creativity and confidence to community and self-expression, they reminded us from the very beginning what empowerment truly looks like.
A decade later, we’re still inspired by their joy, brilliance, and the love poured into those early days. ✨
