Here's a clip from 2010 of me singing Room To Grow with Black Kites, after being handed the mic by the mighty
@jeffcannonball at the legendary ABC No Rio. It was a complete surprise and it's the first time I've ever done anything like fronting for a band.
It's been 10 years that we've been rocking as the Hub City Dusters, and all of my first experiences in New Brunswick start with trying to find secret punk house basements at places like The Moldhole, The Breadbox, Death City, the Alamo, and a few more to see this band among many other sick bands like Zhenia Golov, Plague Bearers, Stressed Out, Fleshtemple, Killin' It, and many, many more.
For whatever reason, there are multiple generations of kids who have gotten into us and keep coming out to our gigs, singing along, and dancing. But in the old days there was a rich community of bands, punks, and punk houses for us to do our thing at. Without Jeff, there might not have been a Dusters at all. Without those who came before us, we'd never know that this way of life was possible.
Let's show up for him this weekend at the three gigs. We will have copies of this 10 year compilation CD with us, and all the proceeds from the gigs and the CD will go to Jeff and his family to help recuperate some of the costs with his ongoing battle with ALS. Our community and our scene is now stronger than ever, and we need to come out in full force to show up for one of the all time greatest Hub City punk frontmen and rockers to simultaneously pay our dues and pave the way for the next generation!
