When Sophia and I first started talking I asked her if she knew about the @southampton.spa and her response was “oh you mean heaven?”. We bonded instantly on our love of the shvitz, gas station fried chicken, and weird movies. So it only seemed natural that we do our engagement photos at the shvitz. Today absolutely exceeded any of my expectations. Krushmore BBQ grows every year and this year we had well over 700 people come thru the door, and we raised over $6k for @asiplantthisseed . I could not have done this without my team, and a special thanks goes to @seth_seez and @smithpoultry for crushing the food and running service today. Huge thanks to Greg from @boro_brothers for holding it down on the charity auction table. @drinkingvessels for shlepping all over the Philly area with me getting everything we needed to make this BBQ happen and helping out in every capacity day of. And every one else to helped make this event run as smoothly as possible. Krushmore BBQ and @parlayphl is a labor of love with many hands who make it all happen. Can’t wait to see you all next year!

Supporting the local community thru the Krushmore BBQ has always been important to me. Over the last few years we have raised over $15k to support @doubletrellis in their mission of providing food security to at risk Philadelphians and I’m very proud of what we have accomplished. This year we have connected with an amazing organization called @asiplantthisseed who built a community center in the Hunting Park neighborhood of Philly where they offer all types of programs to help kids in that neighborhood succeed. I encourage any artists or local businesses to donate art, gift certificates and other items for our raffle and auction. Please bring them with you the day of the event or arrange with me to get them to me beforehand. Also stoked that @boro_brothers will once again be helping me out by running the auction table. It’s that time of year again, @parlayphl and the KRUSHMORE BBQ! Once again I’ve lined up some great artists and vendors and we will be serving up all sorts of delicious food. Over the past 2 years we have also raised over $15k to support the good work that @asiplantthisseed does in our city and we will be continuing that partnership. Tonight at sundown begins the 5th yahrzeit of my father Philip Levine passing. Tonight also begins an important day in the Hebrew calendar, 25th of Elul. This is the day G-d began creation by separating darkness from light. To those who knew my father, you know how much light he brought into the world and how much creative energy he gave and inspired in others. Sadly in his last moments he failed to see his own light thru the darkness. Today will always stand as one of the darkest moments in my family, but I try and find comfort in knowing that with darkness there will always be light. That no matter what creation and new beginnings will always be possible. For all of those struggling to find light and all of those with loved ones who are struggling I hope you can find that one glimmer in the darkness no matter how faint that will help lead you back.
