I've waited a year to sink my teeth into these plump and fruity bad boys. While I could have them anytime outside of Easter, imho it devalues the experience.

After just shy of 4 months that's batch 8 in the bottle, and I think it's my stand out favourite so far! Now all I have to do is successfully replicate the recipe & result and I might be onto something 😬 #mead #homebrew

It's bloody cold so I am very happy to be sitting comfortably at home on NYE. I'm seeing out the year with some of the mead I bottled last summer. It's the first tasting since bottling and it clocks in at a respectable 11%, but more importantly, it's also really good! Here's to 2026 being full of delicious things πŸ₯‚

So today we headed to Ikea, partly to get out of the flat and partly because I needed some spare parts to fix a Billy shelf. It was lunchtime, so we hotvtheir canteen and found a fridge full of tiramisu. I took one, but without much hope. A few minutes later I was seriously considering going back for more. It was *so* good! Clean layers and sharp flavours, all nicely balanced. One of the best I've had in ages, and it's so good to be finishing 2025 on a high! Great job, @ikeauk #tiramisu

Some unexpected post this morning! I wasn't really keeping track of the various challenges I've tackled, but apparently someone was πŸ™‚ .. of course I've immediately started looking at what's on the calendar πŸ˜… πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

We made it back from our foray into the North πŸ˜… A few surprisingly sunny days in the meandering streets of York, a side trip to Harrogate for a fancy breakfast, then even norther to Alnwick, Bamburgh (Bebbanburg!), and over the tidal causeway to Lindisfarne. I think we were really lucky with the weather- we were southbound when the storms hit, although the drive home was a bit wet & wild.

We braved the North Downs 50 on Saturday- hot (so hot), dusty, dry, and in places, seemingly endless. But we smashed it πŸ’ͺ Never has a shower felt so exquisite, nor a cider tasted as good! 😎 #ultrachallenge

I suppose I shouldn't regret the money I spent on this, seeing as I learned what Wasted Potential tastes like. For a venue that does so well with fresh, vibrant flavours, @wahaca 's tiramisu was disappointing bland, as beige as its presentation. Coffee and tequila are great bedfellows, but neither made any sort of appearance here. The sauce was equally impotent and unable to save this cake like impostor. I could not finish it, and I am sad. #tiramisu #dessert

That was fun weekend- popped down to Eastbourne on Friday for a mooch & dinner with friends, then raced over to Southampton via a dramatically foggy coast road to watch Kalandra put in another ace performance. And home in time for the Spanish F1 and a couple of well earned G&Ts 😎

The Tiramisu Rule is a bit dangerous in an Italian city! And yet- three days, three versions, and none of them scoring top marks. They weren't terrible by any stretch, just uninspired. The best of the lot so far was Koko's matcha inspired offering, which still carried a decent hint of coffee and left a pleasant bitterness. Almost enough to offset the half-hearted service. The quest continues.. #tiramisu

To quote Zombieland's Rule 32: Enjoy the little things A bit of good news is worth celebrating, especially these days when everything is such a dumpster fire..! I'm out of sakè but the soju is doing exemplary work 😬
