What a weekend! 🥹 Friday: Competed in the 1v1 Bgirl category at @destructivesteps and made the top 4 out of 27 bgirls, lost to the battle guest Ayu from Japan. Happy with my performance considering I only made top 16 last year. Sunday: Entered the last chance qualifying cypher for @redbullbcone and battled amongst 9 other bgirls to secure one of the last two spots for the Top 8 National Final later that night. Although this event was draining (physically and emotionally) and I definitely had higher expectations for myself, I must say I am proud of making it this far. Last year I was just a spectator (and hadn't returned to breaking just yet) and this year I'm officially part of BC one history! To top it off my brothers @tekthekid & @thelawbernal also represented our crew hard. So immensely proud of both of them. So many more things to say about this weekend but here are just a few highlights. Overall it was a success and I'm giving myself a pat on the back for the progress I've made over the last 12 months. ❤️‍🔥 thank you to my loving partner, crew and friends for supporting and backing me always. Amelle Sade Flow Mita My butterfly, my star. Born Friday, February 7th, at 12:38pm. 'Amelle', named after @amellarrieux Amel Larrieux from Groove Theory. Amel's music has been on heavy rotation throughout our relationship, and the 'Groove Theory' album was one of the first records I shared with Dina 10+ years ago. Anyone who visits our home will notice an original 1995 'Tell Me' 12 inch on display - We vibe GT heavy. 'Sade', named after the Nigerian British GOAT Sade Adu of @sade Sade's album 'Promise' is also among our favourites, and has been part of my life since childhood as my mother would often play Sade's music around the house. 'Flow' is a tribute to our breaking crew @flowtality_ whom Dina and I cherish deeply. Dina and I met through breaking, and more specifically our crew. We thank them for bringing us together. Flowtality have inspired us in tremendous ways, both inside and outside dance. It's fitting that our daughter carries with her a special bond to breaking and Flowtality, even if she chooses another path. Amelle has already helped me work harder, think better, push harder, and run further. She truly motivates me, man. Although I'm happy and proud of all that I've accomplished in my life thus far, I know that I have much to prove to my little angel. I'll make her proud. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey as well. We appreciate the support. Lastly, I am so moved by and grateful to @geraldinahnitko She copped a rough labour, and baby didn't make it easy for her. Nonetheless, Dina handled business and gave birth to a beautiful, healthy bub. I wish everyone truly understood how tough and resilient Dina is. She's amazing. Life update (swipe to the end for a surprise) The last few months have been hectic with OQS (Shanghai & Budapest) + Redbull BC One. Falling pregnant shortly before the Budapest leg was an immense mental and physical challenge. Anyone who saw me break at Budapest would have had no idea that less than 12 hours before my prelim I was severely sick (vomiting/nausea, extreme dehydration and unable to eat for a couple days) and strongly contemplated pulling out of the competition. I'm proud of myself for digging deep and seeing it all through despite having a very rough first trimester. Redbull was also super challenging - battling at 16 weeks and trying to stay as physically strong as possible despite feeling obvious changes within my body. (core strength is slowly leaving the chat 😂) I made it a goal to simply enjoy the moment and not put too much pressure on myself. I felt free. I already have such a cool story to share with lil bub when they are older. I'm forever grateful to have represented Australia abroad doing what I love and all the opportunities that have come my way this year (all while baking this lil bb 👶) Special shout out to my crew @flowtality_ for their endless support and bringing me back to breaking two years ago. I love y'all so much 🫶 Whilst my focus will change for the next year, I know I'll be back on the floor in no time. I can't wait. Ready for my next adventure with @lamskeez_chillin 💖 We'll be the flyest parents 😘
