🪐 Folks, I’m very excited to announce the new George Jackson’s Local Trio album “Center Of The Universe” out Feb 13th. 🪐 Produced by @stashwyslouch and featuring the incredible playing of @frankevansbanjo and @elibroxham along with additional contributions from @gus_tritsch and Stash himself. The first single is out today, a version of Eskar Hutchins’ Cumberland Gap, I can’t wait to tell you all about this album and the journey making it. Lots more to come! Links in my bio! 🪐 PR: Madison, Tennessee surely isn’t the Center Of The Universe, but it is the epicenter for the experimental string band music of the Local Trio, led by New Zealand born fiddler George Jackson and featuring his band of “locals”, Canadian Banjoist Frank Evans (Slocan Ramblers and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes Band) and Chicagoan Bassist Eli Broxham (Dallas Ugly, The Arcaidian Wild). On this spirited journey through a galaxy of concepts, the trio explores new directions in fiddle music, maintaining Old Time and Bluegrass aesthetics as the center of their musical universe. Producer and avant-garde Bluegrass guitarist Stash Wyslouch joins the trio on two tracks, highlighted by an inspired guitar solo on the opening track, ‘The Oddest Chicken.’ The trio explores unusual fiddle tunings, cycles of overlapping rhythms, free improvised choruses over Old Time melodies, bow rhythm science experiments and John Cage inspired fiddle tune minimalism, among other musical abominations. Frank and Eli dive headlong into George’s universe of ideas with mighty performances, equal parts holding down the fort and pushing the boundaries. Banjo-Uke and Electric Guitar player Gus Tritsch (Jake Blount Band) makes a guest appearance, and adds finishing touches to the trio’s conversations. “We’re all the center of our own universes, but there is no one real center of the universe, I hope you enjoy a peek into some of the ideas I have that orbit the center of my universe.” - George Jackson

A couple of years ago while at the old-time jam here in Nashville @tristanscroggins thought "It would be really funny to record 100 tunes in a day and put them out on one big record." He pitched this idea to a bunch of friends but the only one crazy enough to get on board was fellow Patreon creator George Jackson. Tristan interviewed friends all over the country and put together a list of 100 of the most common old-time tunes called in jams, George put together a list of source recordings he liked, and we organized a big jam. We got together with our friends Amy Alvey, Frank Evans, and Eli Broxham and set out to record all 100 in (almost) a day. We invited lots of our friends over who helped give us breaks when we needed. Now, more than a year later, we're still putting together all of the material but we're giving early access to the supporters on our Patreon pages ($5 and up)!
