Absolutely gorgeous day to be outside in Fish Creek Provincial Park! My Grade 7s practiced a variety of wilderness skills including orienteering, fire lighting, wide games, and an impromptu lesson on snakes after a student spotted a Red-Sided Garter in the grass. 🧭 🔥 🌲 🐍

Still reflecting after an incredible few days at the 2026 @take.me.outside Outdoor Learning Conference.
I once again had the privilege of serving on the steering committee, leading a workshop rooted in experiential learning and play, joining a panel discussion with educators I deeply admire, and finally taking part in a book signing for Mentorship in the Wild.
One of the best parts of this conference is the reminder that learning can still look joyful. Laughter, movement, curiosity, connection, and educators willing to jump in fully. In a profession that can often feel heavy, spaces like this matter deeply.
At a time when many of us are carrying full backpacks already, this conference somehow helps refill them.
Grateful to @take.me.outside , @outdoorlearningschoolandstore , the conference team, and everyone who shared their energy and passion throughout the weekend.
And a huge thank you to our @geoec team. Truly some of the best educators I know, but even better friends. Proud to work alongside you all through our specialist council with @abteachers .
See you on the trail again soon.
That’s a wrap from the Outdoor Learning Conference in Banff! What a weekend!! We’re already looking forward to doing it all over again next year!

Get Outside: K-12 Activities to Get Students Moving This Spring
Get Outside. It’s That Simple.
Spring has arrived, the days are long, and the gym will always be there tomorrow. Alberta’s short warm season is a gift — and Physical Education teachers are perfectly positioned to make the most of it.

The bear cart was back in action with my Outdoor Education students! This is a favourite activity that simulates a bear encounter and reinforces the importance of carrying bear spray, keeping it readily available, knowing how to properly use it. Thanks to the team of Conservation Officers and Park Rangers who continue to lend it to me and to @kodiakcanada for the help with the inert training spray. 💨 🐻
