Thought I’d just post this to my page for now as I’ve mainly just been sharing stories recently. I had fun painting this reaper mural at @levelstattoostudio (coming soon, watch this space as they say) for me old mucker @mrbaldaro and the fastest tattooer in the west mids @ozkotattooart . It was great to just take my time on this one, and to be painting it for people who just wanted it to be as good as possible, the concept was that the grim reaper has taken his skull off so he can tattoo a Lilly onto it (New year New me) the eyeballs are floating around watching him and one of them has floated into his hood, possibly it’s also instructing him on how the tattoo is going too (left a bit right a bit) It was good to bring a bit of narrative into the piece and to also use a slightly different colour scheme (No Pink) hopefully it’s come together successfully. I’ll post again once there’s more stuff in the studio to give an idea of scale as you can’t really tell from the photos. I’ve been watching 70s animations recently and have been really inspired by them. I’ve wanted to try out this concept so I thought I’d do it in front of loads of people at one of the UK’s biggest and best graff and street art festivals with no planning 😅🤷♂️
I like the idea of having a more detailed background with 2d characters on top so they stand out from the background, it’s also a way for me to try and find some fun in painting again as I’ve been doing it for so long now and that interest is fading as is my connection to the whole art form in general.
I’ve been thinking for a while now about exploring the combination and the contrast of my usual heavily rendered way of painting and completely flat 2d painting. I also find that a one colour fill with an outline seems closer to painting a throw up or dub and will let me concentrate on line work and also paint a lot quicker. I’m looking forward to seeing where I can take this.

I still have love ❤️ for letters, but a love of other peoples letters. It was good to brush off the cobwebs 🕸️ but think I’ll retire again before I get consumed by them again 😅
Painted some characters then wanted to see if I could still paint a piece after not painting one for close to a decade (10 years) Think I’d need some more practice to find my flow again if I did more, but still can’t get over the feeling that it’s just a “painting of graffiti”, and not actually “graffiti” a replica if you like, which is why I stepped away from painting them in the first place. I tried really hard not to add bubbles and also not make the letters the shiniest things in the universe 😂.
I’m thinking a light outline may have worked better.
