What is the DEWC?
Open since 1978, the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) delivers a broad range of essential services, including hot meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, emergency shelter, health supports, safe washrooms, housing assistance and advocacy through victim services and sexual assault response. The Centre also provides access to phones and mail, alongside community celebrations and activities that reflect and honour the diversity of the women it serves. Operating across five sites, the organization provides housing services to 247 women annually. In the past year, DEWC served 327,689 meals and engaged 2,078 participants in weekly activities.

We are beyond grateful to have volunteered in partnership with inGIRLS CLUB and the Pacific Autism Network!♥️ GIRLS CLUB has created a community dedicated to celebrating and connecting girls with neuro/developmental differences. Its mission is “a world where neurological/developmental differences are not a barrier to friendship, connection, happiness, and self-worth.” It was so special to help host a princess tea party that celebrated joy, inclusion, and girlhood in the sweetest way 🫖 . Spending the afternoon meeting and celebrating such an incredible group of girls reminded us exactly why community work matters. 👑 💞
