📢 When Abortion is under attack, we will stand up and fight back!! The past few weeks we have been organizing for abortion access everywhere as part of the #Rally4Roe campaign. We are kicking it up a notch with the recent enactments Texas’ abortion ban and the Supreme Court’s refusal to intervene. There has be numerous events held to call the Supreme Court out, as well as urge Congress to take action against this hateful act and protect abortion. We are taking action in our own community by showing up in support of abortion providers and pregnant women THIS SATURDAY from 8am to noon. We ask that you wear your mask at all events, as it is required. Please DM us with any further questions or to let us know you’ll be there!

Generation Ratify SC is putting together a lobbying day to advocate for reproductive rights legislation on the state level and we would LOVE for you to participate! While the legislature is currently not in session, it is important that we are still putting pressure on our elected officials to protect reproductive rights and move towards gender equality in the upcoming year. We will be asking legislators to support legislation to remove the luxury tax on period products (H. 3747 / S. 574) and not require a full prescription for birth control access (S. 628). Additionally, we will be asking legislators to oppose legislation to allow healthcare providers to deny service based on personal beliefs (H. 3518 / S. 811), a dangerous bill that has already been heard in committee this last legislative session. And lastly, please don't worry if you have never lobbied before or are not super knowledgeable about the bills. We will provide all participants with information about the bills, points to touch on, leave-behinds, and a session to ask any questions you may have. The Supreme Court recently decided to take a case challenging the precedent set by Roe v. Wade, which protects abortion in the first two trimesters, or 24 weeks. The case Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. With our 6:3 conservative majority, this case, regardless of the outcome, will have huge implications on the future of reproductive justice. We must meet this moment with the action and fight it requires. That is why GenerationRatify is rolling out the Rally for Roe campaign– a three-phased, three-month initiative to defend and expand reproductive freedoms.

On Tuesday, February 9th, S.1 received a favorable vote from the SC House Judiciary Committee and moved to the House floor. The bill is a "Heartbeat Bill" which would enact a 6-week abortion ban in South Carolina, preventing individuals from accessing the healthcare they need. Additionally, an amendment approved by the Senate would require survivors of rape and incest to notify the sheriff before receiving an abortion procedure. The reality is, most people don't even know they are pregnant before the six-week deadline, and requiring notification of the sheriff adds additional trauma to an already damaging situation for survivors. Passing a ban on abortion like S.1 is a threat to the health, freedom, and dignity of many South Carolinians. Join the fight by filling the form in the link tree!!
