Another year in the books.
Now that we are in the start of our 15th year with General Quarters…things that weren’t so clear for a long time have come into focus.
The progress in the brand and its quality. Some personal therapy that proved to be worth every penny, as long as I was committed the work that healing takes and the self discovery that was the fruit of that effort.
As we enter a new year, we are focused on what we do well and leaving past mistakes behind us, while learning from them. A new label forthcoming, New friends and evolving relationships tied to a desire to surround myself with love and support. Perhaps more time on a motorcycle and pure analog shifting around this wild city and setting.
Enjoying life.

When I think about what 15 Years of General Quarters means…I’m humbled.
Of course I’ve thought of the number. But I didn’t think of what it would take to get here. And all of it added up to one hell of an experience. Personal and professional.
The days behind us went by in a flash. But we’re still rushing ahead and creating more. New things on our horizon in the coming months, so if you have been, stay with us. And if you’re new to what we do and how we do it….thanks for being here!

That time of year again!
Starting today in the shop, and tonight online at 9pm, we’ll be doing 25% off any USA made items. Including Gift Cards! Discount will show at checkout ( with a couple exclusions )

HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!
It’s October baseball.
We just finished up a new run of our navy blue CA wool hats. Done the classic way and made right here in L.A. Run of 50 available in the store and online.
This tee has a history. It’s a short read and will give this tee some context.
My father started a construction company in the early 70’s. Odd jobs, bartering for work, knocking on doors…whatever he had to do to get his name out there. Eventually he landed larger jobs and needed more crew to help with the work.
Knowing he needed to stand out as a Latino business owner in a competitive field, he wanted tees for the crew that would be memorable and people would want to wear.
He always loved Speedy Gonzales, Snoopy’s cousin Spike, Big bad wolf, etc. Long story short, the Working Rats tee came to life in 1977.
Using the original artwork from the few examples I’ve had or worn my whole life, I drew up the new version for us. I’m proud of what he built, the hard work he put in, and the lessons of quality craftsmanship he valued that made his company a name to be trusted.
Also, the yellow is matched from the original tshirt ( which we have at the shop ). And fun fact, it was my mom’s favorite color.

One more go at our most recent Amity Island ORCA hat.
Since it’s the 50th anniversary of Jaws, which happens to be my favorite movie, we decided to change it up a bit and bring out one more run of these. They go live online at 12pm pacific time and in the shop this afternoon when we open.
Also, if you have any Jaws related stories…I’d love to hear em.

What an amazing day. Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the fires. We are incredibly grateful for all the help and generosity of friends and strangers who showed up today to offer support. And to those who came out! Whether you came for yourself or you were picking something up for a friend or family member. It was our absolute pleasure to meet you and we appreciate you sharing your time and experiences with us.
Today….
Today marks 14 years of General Quarters. It would be an understatement to say time moves fast. While I don’t have all the photos, I do have all the memories.
Whats important in any dream is to believe. I believed this store could happen. I dreamt of the brand everyday…and still do. And I worked towards it. During long rides and drives, I’ve thought about the future. I’ve thought about all of you.
Everyone with a name and a beating heart. Every furry animal friend who’s ever sauntered in, including the ill tempered chihuahua that bit me that time.
To our brand partners, friends, and those who are family and the ones who became part of it…please accept my deepest thanks and gratitude for making this thing happen for this long.
