Thirteen years ago, I stepped onto my first festival grounds and fell in love with techno. Movement Detroit. Since then, the dancefloor has felt less like a place and more like my home. A space to disappear, to remember myself, to be held by sound, sweat, and strangers moving as one. This Memorial Day, I’m launching my own event collective in Detroit with my best friends. VØRA. It feels surreal to bring this project to life in the city that shaped my taste, on the very weekend that opened my eyes to the music that changed me. I wrote a poetry book. A story carried on the back of a caterpillar. An introspective journey of becoming, of love and loss, reflection, accountability, and the quiet healing found in liminal spaces. I needed to give my grief a resting place. A tomb for the weight I no longer wish to carry, yet can return to when memory softens and nostalgia taps gently at my door. I am deeply proud of this work. Its creation has been one of the most cathartic journeys of my life. To write your own book, even if no one else ever reads it, is a kind of liberation I can only describe as sacred. I hope you give yourself permission to experience that freedom ❤️‍🩹🐛
