starting to try to put a crate of Good Stuff together to spin at Jazz Nite this Wednesday at @parisbardetroit . Also realizing Yamo Cat’s lil hut sort of looks like a giant Spiritual Jazz Hat.
Join us this Thursday March 5 for Creode’s record release show with special guest Doglady !
Creode is a Michigan Underground broken music duo celebrating over ten years of unfettered experimentation with cassette tape, electronics, keyboards, and various invented or scavenged rubbish instruments. C.R. O’dette and Crode intuit and conjure an inscrutable melange of junk audio that comes off at times like “sound poetry without words”, an unidentifiable and unnatural seeming field recording, or a malfunctioning New Age meditation soundtrack.
This gig marks the release of the art edition “Slam Camp” 2xLP on Alien Passengers, which collects 4 track Tascam jams from near the inception of the duo in 2014, a fruitful time when constant thrifting and recycle bin diving yielded a new rig of instruments (rubber bands, junk metal, varispeed tape decks, broken walkmen, crappy new age tapes, electronic toys, wooden flutes, bugles, dulcimers, busted synths and rackmounts) for each session.
Dog Lady provides support and thoughtful sound art realized through gnarly tape manipulation of (variously) strings, voice, found audio detritus, metronomes, music boxes, failing electronics etc.
Happy Pisces szn from sweet birthday boy Yamo (5 years young today) and myself (32 on Friday). Blowing out the candles I wish for my friends’ health, happiness, and for them to make more records. I also wish for Cuba to survive yet more imperialist fuckery, I pray for the swift, brutal and decisive death of this incipient Fascism, and I hope for the loosening of the hegemonic stranglehold of Capital on our (currently unfortunately) shared sense of reality as a species. Hotcha! Cake and Candles.
