Premiering December 1, 2025 on our YouTube Channel: The Moment We Stand A story that confronts silence, challenges power, and exposes the lived realities of young women on our campuses, where 7 in 10 female students have experienced sexual harassment. It highlights the need for safer learning spaces for everyone across campus communities especially women and girls, where their voices are heard, their boundaries respected, and their futures protected. As the world marks the 16 Days of Activism under the theme “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” this film becomes our reminder that harm, online or offline, must be met with collective action and accountability. The moment we stand is the moment change begins. Go behind the scenes of The Moment We Stand and hear directly from the cast and crew who helped bring this powerful story to life. In this special BTS and cast-reflection feature, the team opens up about the inspiration, challenges, and emotional depth behind telling a story that confronts silence, harmful norms, and the lived realities of female students navigating sexual harassment on Nigerian campuses. As we mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we join the global call to unite against all forms of violence, including the growing threat of digital harms that silence, shame, and endanger women and girls. In an age where abuse extends beyond physical spaces into online environments, this film reinforces the urgency of creating safer learning spaces, safer digital spaces, and survivor-centered systems of accountability. This movement goes beyond the screen. It is a commitment to amplifying voices, challenging cultures of impunity, and investing in prevention so every woman and girl, on campus, in communities, and online, can live and learn without fear. Join us on this journey of art, advocacy, and impact. #TheMomentWeStand #Bts #GenderMobileInitiative

Did you know that 1 in 3 women, 6 in 10 children, and a shocking 70% of female undergraduates in Nigeria experience sexual and gender-based violence? These staggering statistics demand urgent action. At Gender Mobile Initiative we envision a gender-equitable world where violence against women and girls does not thrive. #GenderMobileInitiative #GMI #EndSexualHarassment #Campussafety #antisexualharassmentpolicy

Gender Mobile Initiative recently met with the Vice Chancellor, and members of the safeguarding team of the University of Abuja, now Yakubu Gowon University, to drive critical conversations around safeguarding, sexual harassment prevention, collaboration for the improvement of the University’s sexual harassment policy and its dissemination, and strengthening institutional capacity for trauma-informed, victim-centered investigation of sexual harassment cases. Led by our Executive Lead, Omowumi Ogunrotimi, Esq. the engagement created space for honest dialogue on building more responsive, accountable, and survivor-centered systems that protect students and staff alike. We commend the University leadership, led by Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi, for reaffirming its commitment to student welfare, and its openness to strengthening institutional response mechanisms through collaboration with our organization. At GMI, we believe safer campuses require more than policy, they require systems, leadership, and sustained action. Together, we continue to advance learning environments where safety, dignity, and justice remain non-negotiable. #CampusSafetyInitiative #SaferCampuses #EndSexualHarassment #StudentSafety #GenderMobileInitiative

At the Skoll World Forum, Gender Mobile Initiative had the opportunity to engage with the funding community of Co-Impact in a reflective session focused on the “how” of systems change. As a program partner, we shared insights from our work within Nigeria’s education system highlighting not just outcomes, but the often unseen processes that make those outcomes possible. Three key reflections emerged from the conversation: 1. Investing in the invisible work of systems change is critical.Transformative change is sustained by work that rarely appears in logframes such as coalition building, relationship management, convening unusual allies, generating timely evidence, and navigating resistance. These are key elements central to shifting systems. 2. Accountability must evolve with systems change. Traditional models of accountability focused on rigid activity tracking are insufficient. Systems change requires accountability that prioritizes learning, adaptation, and progress toward long-term outcomes. 3. Systems change is only meaningful when it translates into real, lived improvements for people. Without this, it risks becoming disconnected advocacy. We are grateful for the opportunity to engage in honest, learning-oriented dialogue with funders and partners, and for the continued commitment to trust-based, patient capital that enables this work. #GenderMobileInititive #SystemChange #SkollWorldForum

At Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) and Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Gender Mobile Initiative is strengthening access to safe, confidential reporting through the CampusPal App, equipping the campus community with the tools to report abuse and seek support with confidence. This effort forms part of our broader Campus Organising engagements across both institutions, which included policy education dialogues to deepen awareness of sexual harassment policies and rights, as well as the training and onboarding of Campus Champions to drive peer-led advocacy on campus. We also worked closely with the Independent Sexual Harassment Prohibition Committees (ISHPCs) from both institutions, strengthening their capacity for effective investigation, response, and accountability in handling cases of sexual harassment. Together, these efforts are building campuses where reporting is safer, systems are stronger, and communities are empowered to take action. #CampusSafetyInitiative #CampusOrganising #SaferCampuses #EndSGBV #CampusPal GenderMobileInitiative

🌟 Announcing the Winners of the #SAAMChallenge! 🌟 As part of our Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) campaign, we invited young voices across Nigeria to critically question cultural practices, norms, and beliefs that enable or perpetuate sexual and gender-based violence. The submissions we received were bold, reflective, and deeply necessary, challenging silence, tradition, and systems that normalize harm. After careful review, we are excited to announce the standout entries: 🏆 Ejim Adie Elijah (@adieejim ) 🏆 Ibrahim Maryam Wachiko (@samaaya_scents ) 🏆 Chigozie Jennifer Offiah (@c.j.offiah ) 🏆 Amarachi Victoria Ozonma (@theeevictoria ) 🏆 Isidinma Nnamdi (@_flowersexpress ss) To every participant who submitted an entry, thank you. Your work went beyond creativity; it questioned deeply held norms and contributed meaningfully to the conversation on culture, power, and violence. While not all entries could be selected, every submission strengthened the purpose of this campaign. While today marks the close of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), this conversation must continue. The work of auditing culture, questioning, challenging, and unlearning the norms that enable sexual and gender-based violence, must continue beyond this moment. We celebrate all participants and remain committed to creating platforms that challenge harmful norms, amplify critical voices, and drive social change toward safer communities. 💛 #SAAMChallenge #AuditTheCulture #EndSGBV #EndSexualViolence GenderMobileInitiative
