I had the wonderful honour of shooting this special project for CHANEL beauty just prior to Christmas celebrating the launch of the Rouge Noir makeup collection. It was during a frenzy of creative input by Karl Largerfeld and creative directors Dominique Moncourtois & Heidi Morawetz ahead of the 1994/1995 Autumn/Winter RTW show, when they were experimenting with nail polishes to bring a fresh touch to the models’ nails that Rouge Noir came to be. Echoing the lining of the 2.55 handbag and becoming one of the most iconic CHANEL Beauty shades it’s described as— “a red that’s almost black, a black that’s almost red.”
