The lead up to vintage 2026 has had more than the usual set of challenges. Hail and frost in a very wet early growing season that had some parts of the vineyard waterlogged followed by a summer drought. 6 weeks without rain in very hot conditions put our little dry grown vineyard through its paces. It has stood up remarkably well, resilience born of deep, well established root systems over 43 years. Today we start picking with a small quantity of Chardonnay destined for our Blanc de Blancs. A wine that will see the light of day in 2032!

2012 Blanc de Blancs disgorged 5th December 2025 with zero dosage. 2012 was an exceptionally fine vintage with a beautiful mild summer. The original release of the 2012 was in 2018 with our customary 6 years on yeast lees. A small quantity was retained in our cellar with extended lees contact. After 13 years the time was right to bring it to the world. Only 420 bottles produced. Available now on our website or through our wholesalers.

Our wine list is always evolving — a thoughtful mix of local makers we admire and a few European classics we simply can’t resist. Pick of the week:
2024 Gembrook Hill ‘Village’ Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley)
A bright, lively style with red cherry, wild strawberry and a gentle herbal note, supported by fine tannins and a fresh, expressive finish. Silky, fragrant and quietly elegant — the kind of Pinot that feels effortless. With over 200 selections on the list, there’s always something new to discover.
Which bottle will you choose on your next visit?

We’re very happy to have been recognised in @winecompanion ’s top 100 wineries list this year. It’s great validation for all the hard work. The new season is well and truly upon us and it is a joy watching the vineyard grow from day to day.

Gembrook Hill Vineyard and Winery In the previous post, I shared the floral basket — a quiet tribute to the stillness and beauty of Gembrook Hill. Here, the story continues with the winemaker himself, as he introduces three featured Gembrook Hill wines: • 2018 Blanc de Blancs • 2024 Sauvignon Blanc • 2024 Pinot Noir Each bottle reflects the rhythm of the land and offers a glimpse into the soul of the vineyard. 🍷 Discover more wines and stories at @gembrookhill 📷 Visuals by @atmospheric_photoandfilm 🌸 See more at @alyssaspetaljournal #gembrookhill #yarravalleywines #winemakerstory #alyssaspetaljournal #petalmemoirs #floralstorytelling #flowersandwine

Terrific news in today from @winecompanion . Thank you for the recognition. Gembrook Hill is a legacy vineyard where we try and honour the vision and work ethic of Ian, continued by June and Andrew. The reward is in the work itself, it’s tremendous to think that the bottles that leave our vineyard go on to have lives and influence of their own well beyond our gates. Cheers!
