Allow me to reintroduce myself:
GeeXella (pronounced Jee-EL-luh) is the
moniker of Atlanta-based queer DJ, sound
artist, and cultural worker Graciela Cain.
Drawing from their Black and Mexican lineage,
GeeXella builds dance floors as sites of memory,
movement, and collective release.
With over a decade behind the decks, their sets
move fluidly through neoperreo, afrotek, and
global rhythms anchored by an embodied
approach that prioritizes storytelling, sonic
lineage, and crowd connection. Rooted in Black
diasporic traditions, GeeXella treats DJing as
both craft and cultural practice, blurring the
lines between club performance and ritual
space.
They have opened for artists including Jialing,
HONEY B, Channel Tres, Tokischa, and Cakes
Da Killa, and are recognized for their ability to
hold energy across underground and festival
stages alike. In 2018, responding to the absence
of LGBTQI+ and BIPOC-centered nightlife in
the American South, GeeXella founded Duval
Folx in Jacksonville, Florida a Black queer and
trans-centered dance space that has raised
funds for mutual aid and community support
initiatives.
New headshots thank you 📸 @southernsiren__

The role of the artist is never neutrality!
Artists it’s time to use your words , your art , your dance floors to speak out on the injustices happening here in the belly of the beast.
Sign on to @againstapartheid.art pledge and use your art to uplift the liberation of oppressed people world wide.
