As a gay man and DJ, I have always believed the dance floor is one of the most powerful places for community. So many of us found ourselves, and each other, through pop music and culture, and that connection is at the heart of everything I play. Rooted in a love of multi-generational pop, the kind of music that hits regardless of your age or era, I found my way into DJing through a desire to create spaces where the LGBTQ+ community could come together, let loose, and feel at home. That passion for finding the perfect song for the moment has grown into a genuine love for the connection music creates between people.

Happy birthday to the most metal person I know. I am so lucky you were born as my sister and grew into my confidant and best friend. You’ve been through some shit during this lifetime and I just admire the hell out of you and the way you’re raising the little lady.🤘💜
HOPES Photo/Video Dump 📸🏥💜
When I started at HOPES almost 3 years ago, I was in the worst chapter of my life. I had just lost both of my parents. I had to make the decision to stay in Reno to support my sister and my 5-year-old niece, and I was navigating court dates, probate, and layers of grief that I hadn’t faced yet.
Few months after my mom’s funeral, I got lunch with two of my favorite people, Todd and Alison. Todd told me about a Communications position at HOPES. He said, “This is a place where people heal and I think you can find some healing by being around other people who are also looking for that healing.” He was right, I wish I could tell him that.
I healed in pieces here — through patient stories of resilience, through coworkers who became friends, through a team that supported me through court hearings, house clean-outs, and navigating adulthood.
In my time at HOPES, I: • Helped build brand awareness through campaigns, billboards, bus ads, and social media • Built relationships with local news outlets and media partners • Was part of a team that fundraised $36M to build a second clinic • Helped open a new clinic on 4th Street — serving one of the most underserved areas on the west coast • Launched a maternal care campaign to support expecting mothers navigate substance use
This was the first role where I used the degree my mom helped me pay for.
If you knew my mom, you know she breathed in and breathed out community. HOPES gave me the space to carry her legacy.
Thank you, HOPES, for the healing, the memories, and for letting me be part of something so important.
Here’s to the next chapter, I’m excited to continue showing up for community as Renown’s Community Relations Liaison. ✨
