Black plastic still belongs in your general waste. Black plastic is invisible to the near-infrared sorting machinery used to process recycling, so it is excluded from the new Simper Recycling regulations. Thankfully, manufacturers have made significant steps to remove non-recyclable black plastic from their packaging, moving to clear plastic, which makes recycling even easier. If you do have black plastic waste ( often used as plastic plant pots or ready meal trays) it needs to go into your general waste bin. Find more information about which plastics can be recycled by visiting the Nottinghamshire County Council recycling FAQs page on their website.

Swimming as early as possible is recommended as it offers fantastic benefits, allowing babies and parents to bond in the water and have fun at the same time. It’s a great way of building trust and is crucial for a baby’s development. Find out more about our baby swimming lessons at the Gedling Leisure website. #LoveWaterSafely #ILSW26

🔊 Noise Action Week starts today! Noise affects more than just what we hear - it can have a real impact on our health and wellbeing. From disrupting sleep to increasing irritation and stress, exposure to noise can reduce overall quality of life and interfere with daily activities at school, work, at home, and during leisure time. Research shows that long-term exposure to excessive noise may increase the risk of serious health conditions, as well as worsen existing ones. Find out more on the Gedling Borough Council website - link in bio. Search Noise Action Week. #NoiseActionWeek #noise #pollution

Gedling Borough Council works with WISE Enforcement, who act on behalf of the Council to help tackle environmental offences across the borough. This includes enforcement against fly-tipping, littering, dog fouling and other environmental crimes that affect our communities. Officers are authorised to issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) where offences are witnessed, helping to keep our neighbourhoods clean and safe for everyone. The easiest way to avoid a penalty is simple - dispose of waste responsibly and use the bins provided. 🗑️
