If you’re not familiar with the landscape of Chicago, here’s a quick lesson. Before the demolitions, we had a stretch of public housing known simply as the buildings . Right in the heart of that stood the Harold L. Ickes Homes — and that’s where I was told I had to go if I wanted to interview one of the best out the Low End… G Count from LEP / Bogus Boys.
I ain’t gonna lie, I was a little nervous pulling up… this wasn’t Disneyland 😂 but if I was serious about making a name for myself and working with the best in the city, this was part of the journey.
Soon as I got there with my camera, DJ Monty and the whole Ickes community showed nothing but love. They rolled the red carpet out for a young filmmaker with a vision.
And remember… there was no social media back then — I was social media 🤣🎬
