Recently acquired paper conservation training skills utilised to repair and bringing back into use this rare Wallpaper Manufacturers Ltd catalogue edition no:5 c.1935 containing patterns from Lincrusta , Anaglypta , Cameiod and Lignomur designs. A great new addition to the historical archive pattern book collection. The book arrived in very poor condition, server water damage destroying the cover. The text block however was in good condition considering bare some staining with the cover doing its purpose of protecting the content. The original cover, which lost the majority of its goldleaf lettering was placed as the first leaf to protect instead of reinstating. #lincrusta #traditionalwallpaper #bookconservation #madeinbritain #anaglypta @wallpaperhistsoc @wallpaperhistory @lincrusta.official @anaglyptauk

We now have the finished painted article. Following a DPC being installed some years ago and a recent kitchen extension, I was commissioned to restore to reinstate the missing historical Lignomur pattern no: L841 some 14 months ago using the Lincrusta restoration kit. The house located within the Reddish vale area of Stockport, Manchester that played a prominent role in the industrial revolution. The resulting wealth of the era saw people displaying high end innovative products such as Lincrusta, Anaglypta and Lignomur in a show of status. Get in touch to discuss your embossed/ sculptured wallpaper and ceiling panel restoration project. Be it new product install or restoration as in this case. It's not often that you come across such a rare example of Lincrusta -Walton and Anaglypta that's deemed so significant by The Whitworth Museum collections committee, that the donation was gratefully accepted into their collection to be preserved for prosperity. Due to my keen eye as a leading restorer of such products, rather than it going into the skip and heading for land fill before my intervention. Considered to be so rare that Helena Brazil references the design no: 141 in her thesis: Lincrusta-Walton 1877 -1887: The Development, Design and Character of Lincrusta-Walton(https://lnkd.in/edxJ2sH9) it is featured in the c.1898 red pattern book, Lincrusta-Walton Designs, The Sunbury Wall Collection. The properties last owner had done very little in modernisation in the preceding 50 years, that when i was commissioned by the new owner to replicate and fill in a missing section of another rare dado panel (https://lnkd.in/ejcRXGEi) it became apparent that much of the original relief decoration was still intact. Built in 1873 for the Pawson family, Oxenhope who owned businesses in the village at Wadsworth Mill and the Olde Mill; whom like many industrialists of the time displayed their wealth with such high end adornment, think of Lincrusta as the Lamborghini of relief wallcoverings. The early Anaglypta design no: 888 (c.1928 – 1931 pattern book) was removed and along with samples of the Lincrusta-Walton have been added into my recovered historical collection for future restoration use. Phase 2 Tranby (Croft) Independent school represented the most challenging aspect of the project. Trials with setting times and stressing paid dividends, fitting and reduced breaking of the Lincrusta replication panels. Following expert transom replacement, panel beading & ornament egg & dart restoration by Ryan of @swart_plaster_mouldings . The barrel vaulted ceiling became whole again returning this rare Lincrusta ceiling paper back to it's former glory! #lincrusta #restoration #historical #heritagerestoration #architecture

Following a condition report on this badly damaged ceiling: delaminated paper with extensive evidence of water ingress resulting in removed panels. Tranby Independent school barreled ceiling restoration, phase 1. Here we have an early historical Lincrusta ceiling paper, pattern: 1051/ c.1889. Removing loose panels, treating, reinstating original saved material with Lincrusta adhesive. Repair to damaged areas of otherwise good ceiling panels. #traditionalwallpaper #restorationproject #lincrusta #RestorationExperts #heritage
