This feels like such a full-circle moment for me. I grew up attending this festival as a little girl, walking through the booths and admiring the incredible artists. To now be part of it as an exhibiting artist feels surreal.

I completed this piece back in January and have been holding onto it ever since.

The words are mine now.
Entering the art world has been one of the most beautiful and brutal experiences of my life.
There is so much pressure to be original, to be perfect, to be marketable, to be worthy. And now, even when you create by hand, there is sometimes this strange pressure to prove your humanity behind the work.
Maybe that’s part of why I held onto this one.
The youngest version of me asking the questions I still carry:
Who do you want me to be?
Is being me not enough?
Who really chooses?
I want art to be expression before performance.
I want it to be human.
