We are deeply honored to have collaborated with Gaza Birds Singing and its director Ahmed Muin AbuAmsha on “Sheel Sheel (Dron Song)”.
The first time we saw this video, something changed inside us. In the middle of the bombings in Gaza, a military drone could be heard above the Gaza Birds Singing music school camp. Everything seemed suspended between fear and silence.
But Ahmed did not stop. He did not look away. He simply transformed the sound of the drone into music, and his students began singing with him.
🌿Music can silence war. And those who risk their lives to teach a child how to sing or play an instrument remind us that humanity still exists.
From the very beginning of this collaboration, we decided to donate 100% of the royalties and all of our work to the Gaza Birds Singing school. Les Bâtisseurs ont œuvré pendant de longs mois pour organiser un duplex en direct entre Mondonville et Gaza 🎶🌍
Ils avaient à cœur de soutenir l’association Gaza Birds Singing en relayant un message fort : chanter avec Ahmed pour la paix et pour les enfants gazaouis 🇵🇸
Au-delà du reversement de 1€ par bracelet breton vendu, cette initiative portait avant tout une volonté de solidarité, de culture et d’humanité ❤️
Une heure avant la programmation du live, les Bâtisseurs ont finalement réussi à établir le contact en direct avec Ahmed, depuis Gaza 📡
Gaza Birds Singing, l’association fondée par Ahmed Muin Abu Amsha, rassemble un groupe musical composé d’enfants déplacés et de professeurs de musique talentueux de Gaza. Ensemble, ils chantent pour l’amour, la liberté et la vie 🎼✨
À travers la musique, Ahmed tente de redonner la parole aux enfants et de leur offrir un peu d’espoir au milieu des ruines.

Today, on Nakba day, I’m honored to share my interview with Palestinian musician @ahmedmuin_abuamsha , out now on the Los Angeles Review of Books. @lareviewofbooks
Abu Amsha’s famous “Drone Song” has now been taken up as part of the current cultural boycott campaign surrounding this year’s Eurovision Song Contest (May 12–16), amid calls from the Palestinian-led BDS movement to reject the cultural normalization of the Israeli occupation. Against the backdrop of Eurovision’s spectacle of apoliticism and colonial amnesia, the campaign offers “The Drone Song” as a true manifestation of art’s liberatory pulse and the irreducible presence of Palestinian life.
Ahmed and I spoke about how music is taught when institutional structures have collapsed, the shape art-making takes under conditions of displacement, and what it means to build musical form when sound itself is inseparable from bombardment, threat, and loss.
