I was standing just 500 meters from an erupting volcano. The ground was warm to the touch, shaking beneath my feet with each explosion. One of the best experiences of my life.
Hiking the famous Volcán de Fuego and Acatenango in Guatemala was amazing. We hiked about 4,000 feet of elevation gain to reach 12,000 feet, where you can watch the volcano (Fuego) erupt multiple times a day and you can hike close enough to feel the heat, hear the roar, see the lava light up the night sky.
When we first got closer, it was super cloudy. Everyone just sat there waiting, patient, almost like they knew it was going to clear. And it did. It might have taken 2 hours but it finally cleared. There’s something about that hundreds of people from all over the world, just sitting in silence, waiting for nature to put on a show. It taught me patience in a way I didn’t expect.
Easily one of the craziest but coolest things I’ve ever done. Being that close to something so raw and powerful creates an experience you can’t find anywhere else.
These are just a few moments from my trip and I can’t wait to share more. I definitely will be back.

Happy Earth Day 🌎
I’m so grateful for every place I’ve been lucky enough to visit. This planet is really something special but we have to take care of it so that future generations can experience the same beauty we do.
