You gave me a beautiful new view into a tattooer world.
Showed me the type of tattooer I aspired to be like. Not just to be an artist that lives this medium, but also a person who sees the humanity within this ritual of ink. A passion for the arts and a love for the people that create, receive, experience.
Met you when I was young in my 20s naively curious about the tattoo world. How lucky I am to have been able to experience such a life changing tattoo. To show me an example of what safe ,life altering tattoo inscribing looked and felt like. Not just because physically it's a tattoo, but the mind change that comes with wearing the badges. It was the biggest tattoo I had gotten at the time (11 years ago!) both feet to knee.
When I first walked in that shop I didn't believe I was strong enough, when I left that day I learned I had it in me the whole time. And I wouldn't have been able to tap into my strength without the sweetest support of his lady @jocelyn1313caballero .
I came in thinking I was just getting a tattoo and I left with a new perspective and new friends

This was super fun one shot in 4 hours because she sat like a beast the whole time, picked from one of my flash pieces , everything aligned so naturally I love seeing em come to life !

Hello. My name is Gabriela for those who don't know me personally . I'm 33 today. Been tattooing for 10 years now crazy how time flies !
It's my birthday today and im feeling nostalgic.
I'm not normally great with words I've always been better with pictures . Explanations through imagery n emotion rather . I wanna start with grattitude for being resilient and creating a lovely life rebuilt in a year . today you're getting it. If your curious here's an update since . Don't read if you don't want to read some tmi/trauma dump shit.

This time last year was a deeply dark n painful time full of heartbreak and letting go of ties that felt ancestral . Despite the betrayal came realizations . Those who hurt n takeaway don't have anything real themselves and those who you would vouch for the most can hurt you the deepest. With pain also comes immense love. Duality. I was in love last year n got my heart broken , both romantic and platonic, (I don't recommend going through both at the same time ) I've worked hard to heal n make new friends and create a new life that was serving of the current me,
Regardless. still Created/finished some amazing HUGE projects that blow me away. Mostly because I get to witness the strength behind humans every time I touch my needle to skin . That connection is made MIND::BODY ARMOR
You could say I'm super type B . I have a hard time sticking to standard rules n time keeping id not a strength. I am however very in the moment and enjoy conversations of a lot of topics especially anything that questions reality,conformity, truths. I'm major debater. we can talk about aliens while I draw on you conceptualizing memory/thought/intention into physical lines that frame new perception of self .
We can also be silly and crack fart jokes all day cuz as much as I keep growing more rings around my trunk on this planet. I feel my mind stay in this young fantasy mindset where I like to garden.

Some thoughts :
With current events I struggle with the feeling of "why are we doing this?", but I double down and embrace the skills and the people I have, to trust in . community built on loyalty and a will to survive. feeling more motivated than ever to continue learning n building for a currently evolving world. So I set aside that feeling for now. Don't need an answer in order to move on and be there for yourself.
Art always have that place of amplitude and help me strengthen the message. Immensely greatful for
a safe space for people who are overwhelmed by a deep sense of revulsion and horror towards society and the way it distorts our natural inclinations for love and community and subjects us to constant and inescapable alienation and stimulation and who just want to quit their jobs and flee to the hills and be left alone to create.
