Very excited as April 3 was release day for a new piano trio recording of mine called “Three Track Mind” featuring Francois Moutin and Rudy Royston on Sunnyside Records! Thanks to François Zalacain for his support, as well as Chris Sulit for the sound, and of course my good friends Francois and Rudy for their musical telepathy and open hearts. A couple of simple originals as well as some improvised arrangements on standards...a nice chance to do a blowing date and see where the music goes! Any time there’s a bIlling that includes me but lists “All Stars,” they are obviously using a fairly liberal definition of the term…but these guys certainly lIve up to the description ❤️❤️❤️!
After playing a beautiful event last evening in Boston with a quartet from Maria Schneider’s band featuring Scott Robinson, Jay Anderson, and Johnathan Blake that showcased small group arrangements of several of Maria’s pieces (!), Jay and I will perform tonight and tomorrow night (Friday and Saturday) with the great saxophonist Rich Perry and drummer John Riley at Smalls Jazz Club in NYC. Please support live jazz if you can.
