Among the more civilized haunts of Manhattan’s night-time geography, one may occasionally encounter the estimable Mr. Gary Schreiner.
A figure of no small distinction, elegantly appointed in smoking jacket, fez and possessed of that rare courage required to indulge pipe smoking despite the city’s tiresome prohibitions.
His interpretations of the Great American Songbook have long commanded the attention of those with discerning ears.
Having enjoyed Mr. Schreiner’s acquaintance for some years, this writer was moved to present him with “Where Does The Time Go?”, a selection written by myself and the meritorious Mr. Bill Clift from my theatrical endeavor, “COVID - The Musical”.
What followed was a performance of such effortless grace and refinement that one could only marvel at the gentleman’s interpretive gifts.
With unhurried elegance, he crossed to his instrument and rendered the piece with the sort of understated mastery that defines true artistry.
The complete theatrical work is now available in audiobook form through Apple and Google’s respective services.
