GlenArbor Golf Club 🌲🌲 - WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY Stay tuned for a full post on this gem of a course, but for now…still admiring the post round (or pre round) 19th hole right off the dining outdoor patio. On a fun-meter, this is right at the top for courses I’ve ever played. For Westchester, it’s my favorite and I’ll have to think more about all-time. This would certainly be an awesome membership course but for me, like many, it’s a bucket list play. #glenarbor #glenarborgolfclub #nygolfing #garyplayerdesign #garyplayer

Last month the DLF Golf & Country Club hosted a marquee event on the DP World Tour and every year the course seems to create a lot of buzz. Our design intent was to create a captivating and memorable golf course that would achieve world-class standards. Each hole is distinctive and memorable, something we always strive for when designing a golf experience that captures the imagination. The course features an immense amount of variety and strategic interest, highlighted by iconic revetted bunkers, a dramatic rock quarry, a large lake, compelling contouring, and breathtaking vistas. What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that the entire landscape began as flat ground. To transform that blank canvas into 18 holes of championship golf is truly extraordinary. The experience is intentionally thought-provoking, offering a wide range of shot values that challenge players to think strategically throughout the round. Every hole offers something unique, continually engaging the player’s attention from the first tee to the final green. It is deeply rewarding to know that we were able to creatively design a golf experience that is not only unforgettable but one that continues to be talked about by golfers around the world every year. When I was given the opportunity to design Mission Hills North, my goal was very simple: honour the desert and create a course that would challenge the mind as much as the swing. The Coachella Valley is a magnificent canvas. With the San Jacinto Mountains framing the horizon and the natural desert landscape shaping the terrain, I wanted the golf course to feel as though it had always belonged there. We worked with the existing contours of the land, allowing the routing to unfold naturally, creating wide, generous fairways that reward good positioning and thoughtful strategy. Water plays a significant role in the design, touching many of the holes and asking the golfer to make clear decisions. Risk and reward are central themes throughout the round, particularly on the finishing hole, where courage and precision are equally important. A great finishing hole should ask a question of the player and the 18th at Mission Hills North certainly does. GP

There are few things more rewarding than seeing a golf course truly live in harmony with its surroundings. At Goose Valley Golf Club, you feel that connection from the first tee to the final green. Nestled between forest, wetlands and mountains, this course reflects everything I believe great design should be. Playable, challenging and respectful of nature. Every hole asks you to think, to shape your shots, and to trust your discipline. It is a place where strategy matters, where beauty inspires performance, and where the spirit of the game is honored. I am proud of what Goose Valley represents for South African golf and for players who appreciate excellence. GP

When we were designing Thracian Cliffs and standing on the edge of the Black Sea, the waves were crashing relentlessly against the rock below. It seemed like every hole would dare you to pause, breathe and respect the power of nature. Much like Pebble Beach or Cypress Point, this course does not merely sit beside the water, it dances alongside, demanding courage, imagination and humility in equal measure. Beauty in golf is not only about scenery, but rather it is about how the land stirs your soul and sharpens your senses. Thracian Cliffs does exactly that, and in its own bold, untamed way. GP

Just two minutes from the historic fairways of Pinehurst Resort, @pinewildcountryclub spans 2,000 wooded acres and is home to two 18-hole championship courses, the Azalea 9-hole par-3 course, and the Golf Academy’s Challenge Course. The Gene Hamm-designed Magnolia Course delivers classic challenge, while the Holly Course, a Gary Player design, rewards thoughtful strategy and bold shotmaking. It is scenic and quietly demanding, the kind of course that invites players to plot every swing. An $18 million clubhouse renovation is underway and will round out the lifestyle with wine dinners, top-tier retail, and outdoor gathering spaces overlooking the 18th fairway. 📸: courtesy Pinewild Country Club

The stage is set for the final round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City! Expressing my gratitude to all who make Africa’s Major possible. The course always provides a formidable test for the world’s best players as it has done for decades. GP 📸 @grantleversha

I was so impressed on the condition of The Lost City Golf Course at Sun City during of Gary and Vivienne Player Invitational. Playing here always brings back vivid memories of designing this course and the vision Sol Kezner had decades ago. No doubt it is standing the test of time. GP

I could not be more excited to return to Sun City next week for the Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation Invitational. This event has always been about more than golf—it’s about bringing people together to make a difference in the lives of children. To be back at Sun City, surrounded by friends and supporters who share this mission, fills me with immense gratitude. This year is especially meaningful as I celebrate my 90th birthday. I feel blessed beyond measure to reach this milestone, and even more so to spend it doing what I love most: giving back. The game of golf has given me so much, and it is my greatest joy to use it as a vehicle to help others. GP

Cougar Point will always be close to my heart because it was one of my very first design projects in America. I still remember walking the land all those years ago, being taken in by the beauty of the marshes, the moss-covered oaks, and the way the ground seemed to welcome a golf course. Many congratulations on 50 years! GP

Union League Liberty Hill is hosting our Gary and Vivienne Player Foundation event this month and we couldn’t be more excited! I see a golf course that embodies the very essence of championship design. Set across 311 acres of rolling Pennsylvania countryside, it’s a layout that invites you to breathe in the landscape while challenging every facet of your game. The wide, inviting fairways encourage you to swing with confidence, yet the elevated greens and artfully placed hazards demand precision and creativity. Water features sparkle throughout the property, not merely for beauty, but as integral elements of strategy. This is golf as it should be, majestic, exacting and endlessly rewarding for those willing to think their way from the first tee to the final green.

When I was given the opportunity to design the Edinburgh Course at Wentworth, I approached it with great respect for the land, the tradition of the club, and the game itself. I wanted to create a course that rewarded strategy over brute strength, where every hole offered players a choice and every decision had consequences. We worked hard to blend the course seamlessly into the natural landscape of the Surrey countryside, preserving mature trees, embracing the natural undulation, and ensuring the views were as inspiring as the golf. It’s a course where risk and reward are always in play, from the short par fours that tempt you to drive the green, to the long par fives that challenge even the best. What I’m most proud of is that the Edinburgh Course tests all aspects of your game. You need to think, you need to shape shots both ways, and above all, you need imagination. It’s a course that speaks to the soul of golf and I hope that every golfer who plays it walks off the 18th feeling like they’ve experienced something truly special.
