There's a big correlation between weather and sea conditions and numbers of #smallboatcrossings crossings. The government uses weather to predict 'red' days - when crossings are more likely, to assign resources to intercepting boats. This year has been very favourable to small boat crossings. #immigration #asylumseekers #nigelfarage
Spent a lot of yesterday poring over #immigration and #asylum numbers and costs. Lack of clarity is a real problem. But safe to say we rank around 17th in numbers of asylum seekers and refugees per 1,000 population when compared to European countries.
£1 trillion is raised in tax annually by the UK. That's £1,000 billion. 0.15% of that goes to provide accommodation to asylum seekers. Those people who make errors on their tax returns cost the country more - 0.58% of our total tax bill.
