Ok, so no way to avoid it...I've not been on in a while. First off, I'm ok. This has been a rough year for everyone for sure, but I hope you all are doing well.
Let's start with the obvious, I started Animal Crossing New Horizons this last fall. It's my first AC, but I've been really enjoying it. I picked up because I needed to feel creative and I can pick this up and create when I am not in a position to work on making things. And friends, I've been in that position a lot this season. I think this has been one of my toughest seasons physically. Winter is usually rough, but oh boy this one is a doozy!
So anyway, long story short, Chronic Illness sucks...and now I play a lot of animal crossing. Anyone else out there on ACNH??

How about a first shot back of my Maddie Hatter cosplay? Wooh!! I've got a few things I want to update with this, but this turned out way cuter than I could have hoped! I love being so colorful and I can't wait to wear her again someday!
And as an update, I'm nearly done figuring out my Twitch stream set up (at least to begin with) and I'll start streaming my work on there soon. My handle there is 'GarnetRunestar', its just my name with no space or underscore. It's not going to be fancy to begin with, but I figure if I wait to stream until everything is perfect I'll never take the plunge! Hey friends, it's been a while! I hope you are all doing well. It's been nearly a month, but other then the occasional lingering cough I seem to be over the sickness. This whole week the cough has gotten better and better. (And on that note, ny mom has also recovered, thank heavens!). That being said, I'm still continuing to stay at home and trying to limit my grocery store adventures. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm trying to pull out some projects I've needed to work on and I'm working on putting together a way to stream crafting sessions on Twitch (just to try to stay connected to people). So in the meantime, here is a shot from @joshuahartdesign 's visit in February. We had a blast running around downtown salt lake dressed as "princesses" as every passing child called us. I think Kuranosuke and Tsukimi is one of my favorite pairs cosplay Jhart and I have done!

First off, so excited to FINALLY get to post the shots @joshuahartdesign and I got while he visited me last month. It was so fun and getting these to see the finished shots is filling my little quarantined heart with joy!
Speaking of quarantine, real talk fam. I've been sick for the last two weeks. Sunday marks the start of week three. I've mostly been complaining about it on my personal facebook, but i guess I feel like i should say something here. It's been a rough two weeks. Between coughing, fever and a whole mess of terrible, I've been feeling like garbage. I've missed so much work and I'm still not out of the woods. My mom and I both got hit at the same time (i went to visit her and we got this as a surprise 😭). They won't test us, but we were told to stay home and self quarantine as best we can and manage our symptoms. I haven't experienced a fever like this in a long time. Sleeping has been hard, because i can't stop coughing. I've been able to do some symtom management with Dayquil, but I've literally gone through two packages now. (I just got a hold of my third, thank heavens). So basically, life is stressful. I'm sick, I'm exhausted, my body is full of aching. 0/10 would not suggest getting sick. Stay safe my friends. .

I have been slowly chipping away at this satin stitching for the last week. All these little swirling lines have been an adventure, that's for sure. All I have left now are the little diamonds between the boarders. SO CLOSE! 😭😭

I've started applying the base appliques for Maddie. I'm doing this as a mix of solid applique pieces and satin stitch. There are a bunch of swirling lines marked on this to fill in the other designs. I think it's going to create an interesting mix! So here start! Lots more left to do! .

This is the most nonsense bow I've ever had to make. Lol. It's made of sequin fabric and full of horsehair. It mushed into shape surprisingly well. I've used more sequin fabric on this dress then I like to think about, but it kind of makes for some fun texture.

These strips have taken far to much time, considering you will literally see 3 inches of this skirt. XD I'm about halfway through assembling this layer, but even that feels like a win. I cut these to shape, gave the blue layer a blast of fabric paint to adjust the color, mounted the lace pieces onto their Satin Peau background with a Serge and then top stitched the bottom edge and parts of the lace to tack it into place. Now, FINALLY I can start sewing them together to make an actual skirt. There are 24 of each color, for a total of 48 strips. So ready to move onto the next step. 😂😂
Could I have avoided this and just gone with solid fabric? Yes. Yes I could have. But I wanted texture and so I suffer. .

Necklace now has a stupid sculpted bow. XD of all the things I've made in Worbla, this might be the strangest. Lol, but here we are!
The gloves also have their white ruffle now attached. I'm debating on adding the white spots. The box art has white spots on her gloves, but they don't appear in any other version. So I'm torn. I think I'm going to finish everything else and then revisit these! .

Sooo....it's been a while. I've been off and on working on this project, though health has made that a slow progress. It's been very stormy here in Utah and the pressure has left me aching and my head ready to burst.
That being said, I'm really looking forward to finally putting maddie hatter together! I made her wig close to 7 years ago and her fabric has been sitting in my stash for even longer. I can't wait to wear her with @joshuahartdesign the next time we see each other!
I'm going to work on getting back in the swing of posting progress pictures. I miss sharing and being excited with people as I build.
So basically, I'm alive, I'm still building things and I'm trying to get myself into a schedule I can keep up while dealing with a chronic pain illness. So thank you all. ❤❤❤💖💖💖
