‘RAINING / Je Pleus’ marks ten years of
@jojo_corvaia ’s work with ceramics and coincides with the launch of his first book which traces the first decade of his practice. Bringing together recent sculptures alongside earlier pieces, including the artist’s very first work, the exhibition reveals a trajectory shaped by continuity, relocation, and an evolving relationship to material.
Since his introduction to #GARDE in 2018, Jojo Corväiá’s work has become part of the gallery’s visual language, grounded in a strong architectural presence and a restrained approach to form. Early pieces, developed during his years in Berlin, carried a direct, almost brutalist clarity, emphasizing weight, structure, and uncompromising gesture. Following his move to the French countryside, the work opened gradually, new surface treatments, subtle color, and expanded wall installations emerged, reflecting a shift in rhythm without abandoning the core physicality of clay.
‘RAINING / Je Pleus’ does not present a retrospective in the traditional sense, but a conversation across time. New works stand alongside earlier ones, revealing how decisions around scale, texture, and balance have accumulated over ten years. Rather than illustrating a linear progression, the exhibition highlights an ongoing investigation into presence, construction, and the autonomy of the object, a body of work that continues to evolve while remaining anchored in the artist’s consistent material language.
