CONTEXT – DIE VERSTOERENDEN SCHOENHEITEN VON VERMIBUS / DISTURBING BEAUTIES BY VERMIBUS @vermibus bases his practice on targeting the depersonalizing effects of advertising, which he negates by exaggerating them. As part of his practice, he removes official poster ads from the public space and alters them in his studio by applying chemical solvents to the image. He dissolves the face and flesh of the models appearing in the campaigns, smudges and erases brand logos, and then returns the resignified ads into their original context. With his current exhibition “CONTEXT” at @popkudamm the Berlin based artist is bringing focus on how his message is understood, questioning whether it acquires or loses meaning exposed in one place or another. As part of this reflective process, Vermibus offers a large range of interpretations in its exhibition “CONTEXT”. With this great diversity of options and contexts, the artist makes the visitor a participant of this same reflection. Is the context inherent, an obstacle or an added value to understand his work? Featured will be paintings and installations, as well as works installed in public spaces documented and experienced with VR technology. The vernissage will take place on Saturday, June 4, 7:00 pm Berlin time of course, and the exhibition will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays up to and including 24 June 2022. If you are in Havana, Cuba or plan to be over there during the following weeks, we recommend you visit the exhibition of our dear colleague and ally, the conceptual artist Yomer Montejo Harrys - @montejoharrys - who through his work as a photographer, together with his scientific experience as a radiographer, highlights his most recent individual exhibition, "The Last Supper". @yenny_hernandez_valdes presents the project with the following text: “The Cuban-Italian writer Ítalo Calvino said that a classic never finishes what it has to say. This is what happens, precisely, with the iconic work The Last Supper, by Leonardo Da Vinci. It has been analyzed and reinterpreted several times throughout the history of art. Spearhead, in turn, that has served the Cuban photographer Yomer Montejo to conceptually articulate his most recent project, conceived, matured and produced under the effects of a pandemic. This interpretation in a contemporary key that Yomer presents us comes to disrupt all religious and representational sense. UNITY ART SCREENING BIANCOSHOCK @biancoshock is an Italian artist creating conceptual urban interventions. His artistic project began in 2004 after a previous ten-year experience in the Graffiti world. This background spontaneously led him to live the city as a stage for his artistic actions. From the beginning, the artist expresses himself mainly through independent urban installations, different from each other in terms of technique, materials, and subjects, but united by the same intent: to offer a starting point for reflection - sometimes ironically, other times provocatively - to the passer-by, trying to emotionally disturb his daily routine. UNITY ART SCREENING STUDIO ROOSEGAARDE Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde and his team, studio @roosegaarde , connect with people and technology in installations that improve daily life in urban environments, spark imagination and fight the climate crisis. Clean air, clean water, clean energy, and clean space are the new values. As a social design laboratory light is their language. Roosegaarde’s mantra is 'Schoonheid’ a Dutch word with two meanings: ‘beauty’, that comes from creativity; and ‘clean’, that comes from clean air and clean energy. For Roosegaarde this should be a fundamental condition in daily life.
