If you’re looking for a way to support immigrant-owned businesses in Minneapolis, my dear friend Miriam-Rachel Newman recommends Bill’s Imported Foods. Thanks in advance for helping if you can! https://gofund.me/19cf97e3e

Dear Representative Stauber, “It's not always obvious when a group is a cult, and by the time you realize you're involved with one, getting away can be difficult. While no group or organization admits to being a cult, you're probably dealing with one if you are not allowed to ask questions, make your own decisions,* or disagree with the leader. Anyone can get pulled into a cult, but not everyone has the courage to leave and rejoin mainstream society. You can escape a cult by planning your getaway carefully and finding ways to recover from spiritual and emotional abuse.” - wikiHow, “How to Leave a Cult (with Pictures)” *or write your own legislation #PeteStauber #youcandoit

Pho 79 is where I had my first Vietnamese rice noodle salad 30 years ago, and there was no going back. Looking for a way to help out in Minneapolis? Spread the love, share the pho!

Dear Representative Stauber, “Consider, then, whether your claim of conservatism for yourselves, and your charge of destructiveness against us, are based on the most clear and stable foundations.” - Abraham Lincoln, February 1860 #PeteStauber #abrahamlincoln #StateTerror - sources in the chat -

I have been heartsick, as so many of us have, about the murder of Renee Good as well as the ongoing violence and terror against so many in Minneapolis, St. Paul, greater Minnesota, and across the country. My mind comes back, again and again, to Renee’s wife sitting in the snow with their dog after her murder. With these postcards, I have been attempting to highlight foundational ethics and widely shared beliefs about democracy and humanity, given my audience of a conservative member of Congress. Even the Department of Homeland Security, apparently, aspires to respect human life. Maybe they mean it, or did at some point. It doesn’t have to be this way. — Dear Representative Stauber, “Respect for human life and the communities we serve shall guide Department of Homeland Security Law Enforcement Officers in the performance of their duties.” Update to the Department Policy on the Use of Force Policy Statement 044-05 U.S. Department of Homeland Security February 6 ,2023

This video is heartbreaking to watch, all 13 minutes of it. The homeowner’s anguish speaks so strongly, as does that of the young woman who is simply trying to not get disappeared. This is America. Video in the comments.

Perhaps in an early draft of The Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens had Tiny Tim call out, “God bless the Tories!” or “God bless the Whigs!” Wisely, though, he decided on a universal message of worth and belonging that continues to resonate 180 years later. May each and every one of us be blessed. Dear Representative Stauber, “God bless Us, Every One!” - Tiny Tim - in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - #PeteStauber #charlesdickens

Nicky has especially strong feelings about this postcard to Pete, not being a fan of conflicts of interest. Dear Representative Stauber, “No Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.” - U.S. Constitution, Section 9, 1787 #PeteStauber #foundingfathers
