I have never felt right in the body I was born into. I have spent a lifetime trying to understand my relationship to gender, sexuality, and the way my brain processes. Here are pictures of me when I was young, my artwork and artist statement from high school - trying so hard to understand. I’ve tried being honest about who I am, and the way my brain works at various points in my life. Only to have people who “know me” outright dismiss my very real feelings or spread horrible rumors about “why Easton dresses like a girl now”. It’s not a joke, you and people like you are why I have felt ashamed of who I am my entire life. To the people who I thought were friends, and perpetuated hurtful and false narratives about me - rather than accept something that makes them uncomfortable. Apologize, and try to make things right…or unfriend me, and kindly keep my name out of your mouth. I am so tired of justifying who I am to people. I have an incredible partner that loves me for who I am, a beautiful healthy baby, and am living a life I used to dream of having. To the people in my life who believed me, and supported me (even when I made it difficult)…thank you. I cherish you, and always will! #easton #measton #sheaston

100 KM on view Saturday July 20 in Los Angeles at Gallery ALSO from 7-11pm. The show is MEMBRANES The artist is Linus Gruszewski @linus.fr This structure is made from 870 recuperated polyethylene checkout bags which have been fused together. This piece was inspired by an interest in the idea of turning ‘disposable’ objects into a building material. The structure is lightweight and easily transportable, and can be fully inflated with a very basic domestic fan. Looking at how this volume interacts with its surroundings, creating an interior space which reflects the exterior constraints through the geometric interplay of soft/solid, rectilinear/curvilinear and through the translucency of the material. #art #losangeles #contemporaryart #architecture #laart #artopening #linusgruszewski #galleryalso #curatela #immersiveart

Gallery ALSO presents MEMBRANES, an immersive exhibition by Linus Gruszewski, curated by Lesya Godfrey. On view Sat July 20 7-11pm at Gallery ALSO 3754 N. Mission Rd LA, CA 90031 @linus.fr MEMBRANES brings together three inflatable installations made from micron-thin plastics, which were destined to be trashed after their first (and only) use. Linus collects and transforms these into intricate geometric spaces which invite interaction and present these reviled materials in a new light.  Visitors are encouraged to explore the work from outside and from within, discovering the world of plastics and the delight of inflatables.  About Linus:  Linus Gruszewski is a French-Australian designer, with training in architecture in Paris and Melbourne. Over the last 15 years, he has worked in art and architecture studios in Europe, Australia and California. Recent exhibitions include Environments at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and Dirty Laundry at Galleri Nos in Stockholm, both in collaboration with Lesya Godfrey. Currently based in Los Angeles, he splits his time between scenographic work, installation projects and teaching people to set up DIY recycling plants. You can find him looking for poetry in industrial catalogs and wandering through the city looking for discarded materials. #art #laart #contemporaryart #losangeles #linusgruszewski #architecture #experientialart #immersiveart #curatela #artopening #inflatableart

Congratulations @carlosrittner on a fantastic show @galleryalso . This show of 5 hand made neon light sculptures is powerful and illuminates Mission Road near Gallery Also. It invites the viewer to interact with this series of neon light works celebrating the “ Day of the Aligator” Rittner writes: “ this body of work is meant to be shown in community spaces, to be with people. And to remind us that our past is present- in our food, our art, our music, our language and more” Bravo Carlos!
