A legend has earned his wings. For well over a decade, I had the honor and privilege of knowing Reggie Madison personally. What we shared went far beyond friendship Reggie was family, a mentor, and one of the most authentic souls I’ve ever encountered. We spent countless hours talking about life, art, jazz, history, and purpose. Every conversation carried wisdom. Every moment carried meaning. Reggie didn’t just create art he lived it. His spirit, vision, and originality left a permanent mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He was a giant in every sense of the word: fearless, brilliant, compassionate, and unapologetically himself. His contribution to the art world and culture at large can never be duplicated, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. My deepest love and condolences go out to his children, grandchildren, friends. Rest peacefully, Reggie Madison. You were truly one of one. Thank you for your wisdom, your friendship, your laughter, and the light you brought into this world. You will never be forgotten. 🙏🏾

COMING SOON— Announcing a joint exhibition at @gallery495 and @thomascolesite in Catskill, New York. Come experience “Paradise Found: Contemporary Paintings by Lauren Sansaricq” installed across two distinct settings: the historic studio of Thomas Cole (1801-1848), the founder of the Hudson River School of American landscape painting, and the contemporary art gallery. Rooted in the same Hudson Valley setting that once shaped Thomas Cole, Sansaricq’s work carries forward a lineage of American landscape painting that understands nature not as backdrop, but as moral, spiritual, and existential ground. The exhibition will open at both locations on Saturday, June 20, and run through Sunday, August 9. All are welcome to the opening at the Thomas Cole Site on June 20 from 4 to 6 pm and at Gallery 495 from 10 am to 5 pm. Join us on Saturday, March 28 at 2 PM for an artist talk with exhibiting artist Joan Oliver and Kathy Greenwood, Director of Exhibitions and Programs at Albany International Airport. Held in conjunction with Oliver’s solo exhibition “Interior Passages”, the conversation will explore the themes that shape the exhibition—movement through inner and physical landscapes, the role of material transformation, and the quiet evolutions that unfold over time. Together, Oliver and Greenwood will reflect on the artist’s process and the ways in which form, memory, and place intersect within the work. @joan_oliver_studio @greenwoodkart
