The film, narrated by Gary Gulman, chronicles Maury Ornest, a professional baseball player whose life took a turn after his first psychotic break. At his therapist’s suggestion he began to paint, and what began as a coping strategy turned into a lifelong passion. After his death at the age of 58, his sister Laura discovered more than 1400 paintings and more than one hundred journals, a discovery which sent her on an unexpected journey. Maury Ornest's paintings will be for sale with all proceeds going to charity; either Didi Hirsch or UCLA Friends of Semel Institute. Gestures of Love: Anyone who lost their home in the Palisades or Eaton fires may choose an original piece of art to take home as a free gift from OUTSIDER Project's Gestures of Love program.
