I shot and edited this guy in 5 hours. Procrastination really does make the best workers.
I got inspired by the music and chose aspects of my life to relate to it. Sounds big, I just like the song and related a daily ritual to the angelic tune. The emotions were right there to grab, so I grabbed them.
9x16 shorts will come some day, until then you gotta deal with awful aspect ratios on IG.
Song is "Fourth of July" by Sufjan Stevens.

STORYTIME how this showreel project came to be: SO exactly a year ago @aran_shiri and I were part of @diee_bt dramedy short Truth Or (coming out next year?) and as actors waiting between takes we were sharing the dream roles we would LOVE to hopefully one day play: A chaotic complex character and him a cold badass assassin!
Instead of waiting forever for the opportunity to happen, an 💡 STRUCK us… why not shoot it ourselves and use it for our showreel to showcase our range and proof of ability?
SO YEAH we ended up doing it back in march((:

Being Starlyn, being Norma Jeane, being Marilyn Monroe🌟
STARLYN DAY 3 (1/2) my 2nd short film, a psychological drama.
This was so far my FAV shooting day. So grateful for the team and for @gaffer_sam It was just such a joy to collaborate on such a personal artistic project. It really makes me feel like floating on a night’s sky hihi!!!🥹
Also, this project is HUGE on costumes, so THANK YOU to the costume designers for helping tell a story through clothing, how we choose to express ourselves through fashion, whether authentically or by people-pleasing for approval, BUT in this short it’s shown in a very VERY exaggerated way…
Anywho portraying Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jean) is always a HUGE pleasure, and studying her has become such an obsession of mine as she’s someone I relate to deeply!
She created this whole persona around people.
Sweet yet a femme fatale.
Loves to model while craving REAL acting work,
Wanting to be appreciated YET carrying a fear of abandonment, and such a deep thinker underneath it all.
She was incredibly fragile in an industry where you’re SUPPOSED to have thick skin, YET she was also very calculated. When her persona took over, she could light up an entire room with her smile even if she felt lost and hopeless inside.
Her comedic chops? WOW. But it’s sad she was typecast even tho she wantes to be taken seriously...
She’s been an ICON ever since, her face everywhere, yet the PRICE she paid for immortality was huge. And it’s crazy to think next year marks 100 years since she was born…
With all that complexity, I LOVE portraying her in my own way.❤️ (Hopefully one day in a biopic, dream role hihi)
After all… diamonds are EVERY girl’s best friend!

STARLYN - Short Film | BTS Day 1 (Part 1/2)
A psychological drama about how we spend our lives chasing to be seen, UNTIL we finally see ourselves🌟
In a way, I’m healing my inner child through this film. While my other short @themagictrickfilm is in its early festival run (heals my inner rebellion), this one feels like a new chapter where I can TRULY express myself & redeem myself from the mistakes I did before lol!
Starlyn has been in development for months and I’ve actually wanted to make it for over a year, so I’m beyond EXCITED to share more & how this story came to be!!! Very GRATEFUL for the effort the team is putting in! We’ll continue shooting in November yaaaay!!! 🥹
I LOVE movies.
I LOVE making them.
I LOVE acting in them.
And IF a story feels too true to me, I have to direct it. Otherwise, I LOVE trusting others’ visions when I act.
Really starting to see the beauty again in make-believe, in being creative and OFC having fashion be a big part of it (bc I LOVE fashion hehe)
