Another year in Palm Springs in the books. Tried a new hotel and fell in love. Breakfasts in the Barn, perfect poolside days, dinner with Pickle between us (until she ultimately passed out), evening smores. What a treat! So lucky to spend quality time with my two favorites, in matching outfits every day!
Ten years ago, in front of a sold out crowd at the Secret Society Ballroom, we did something that at the time seemed like it was never going to happen. We played a show!
Well, half a show anyways! Seven songs or so... in honor of Gabe Dinger leaving Portland for LA in a quest for comedic excellence. We shared the stage with some heavy hitters of Portland comedy and it was a uniquely amazing night.
We hadn't played a show since 2006 and after this night, although we had a wave of offers and enthusiasm, we put Berzerk back on hiatus once again. It would be another seven years until we'd play again. Ultimately getting back together for good in 2023 after having such a blast at the Recess Romp 2 in San Pedro, CA and deciding we may as well play a few more shows!
Since then, a lot has happened! But this night stands alone as a pivotal chapter in our history. Had Gabe never invited us, repeatedly and vigorously, and encouraged us just enough to do his going away show.... None of this may have ever happened.
Thanks Gabe! We love you, buddy!

I feel so lucky to have been in my hometown for the #nokingsdayprotest protest. It was incredible! Portland is such a silly and strange place. I’m so proud to have grown up in a city that will stand up for what is right, but their preferred form of combat is performance art and inflatable costumes.
