While Gabriel is a music composer and experimental vocalist, Bijuriya is a drag artist engaging with South Asian culture. Gabriel values innovation and risk taking as he navigates Eurocentric artistic scenes. Bijuriya seeks to touch the hearts of fellow brown queers. @lizlimax and @gabdharmoo (aka le binôme "porket”) have been friends for now exactly 30 years. We met at age 14 dans le cours de stage band where we both played alto sax 🎷 🎷 pis on s’est fait “sacrer dehors” 10 minutes avant la fin du cours par un prof qui était crampé parce qu’on manquait de discipline, mais in a geek and talented way: en ajouts d’harmonisations non écrites et des licks de plus dans les jazzy tunes. 30 ans plus tard, we’re basically up to the same mischief. We feel fortunate to have a small niche audience that can validate nos niaiseries 😛 à la source de notre identité, notre façon de voir et d’aimer le monde. We barely knew each other when I was working on this in 2022 and I think it’s evident by now we’ve got huge artistic crushes on one another! 🤩 The video was produced by @musiconmain and filmed by @collideentertainment

The Transformative Power of Drag ⚡️or more simply put, an onstage costume change from my recent run of shows at @buddiesto 📸 @nadiagvdr Anecdote: At the end of « Curry’s a Mix » I take off my costume gradually until I’m only in pads/pantyhose, leading to a moment of me lying on the floor, catching my breath in silence. At Buddies, the stage was elevated and the audience was sitting below at floor level; this inspired a staging choice where my body is sprawled on stage, but with my arms and head spilling off it. The first pic here (which I think is such a marvellous shot and composition!) captures this moment.
