this is just one song (it feels like I’m making a big deal), but for me this release opens the door in many ways. I have been writing and producing songs nonstop for a long time. I started posting on SoundCloud when I was 14 and after finding some success (real ones know), I became overwhelmed and had to re-evaluate the reasons I make music. I found myself making music primarily for validation which made me oversensitive to my own imperfections.
I am now confident in my music’s imperfections… They’re actually my favorite part. I have many songs coming soon (a project??), and a common theme throughout all of them is imperfection. I’ve been processing and growing through writing recently and that feels more in line with the reason I started making music in the first place; to feel as connected to my emotions as possible.
TRY felt like a good single to release first because the song is about letting go, trusting yourself, and feeling intrinsically motivated. I needed the song’s message to feel comfortable releasing it.
