From dance floors to the DJ booth, Filipino Americans have been respected innovators and collaborators since the early days of hip hop. So why donât we hear more about it? During this Saturdayâs event, Mark Villegas will share some research from his book Manifest Technique: Hip Hop, Empire, and Visionary Filipino American Culture. Then, weâll get to hear directly from two DMV-based culture creators who are immersed in the local hip hop scene. Come join the conversation as we unpack these ideas together.
