While dropping supplies at a local ATX Free Fridge, we ran into a volunteer, Lindsay (Lindsey?). She said to encourage our friends to swing by the closest @atxfreefridge to them and drop stuff - it doesn’t have to be a big thing like we had - in fact it’s probably better when it’s just a little at a time so as to not overwhelm their storage space. (We split this load between them and @birdhousebooksatx ’s mutual aid boxes.)
We struggle with this stuff because to us the point of doing the thing isn’t to take pictures and tell people about it. But, when @crugglez and I were talking about it after, we wanted to encourage people to do the thing also. Drop by your local. Support your community. Be cool.
Take care of yourselves - there’s so much shit and it’s all so bad. Get off this app for a bit. Slow your brain down some. Come back to the world reinvigorated. Fuck ICE, fuck fascism. I love you.
My script for Puck, in Epilogue leaves a lot to the director. And more to the actor. And I am beyond fortunate to have fallen in with the best director/actor duo I could have hoped for.
Mike Crugnola @futurexskeleton understood the assignment, and then some. Just look at the image of the opening: Puck in a leather jacket and tutu, backlit, facing away from the audience. And it was such a privilege to watch Mike’s creative process during rehearsals and witness the thoughtful kindness in his direction.
And Steph Crugnola @crugglez brought the house down as Puck. Her physicality was beyond what I could have imagined. And her emotional range was staggering. With Steph, Puck shifted between dark and witty and evasive and insightful, all in a span of thirty seconds. The audience laughed and cried and gasped and responded in ways far beyond a typical production. Give Steph your hands, as Shakespeare would say.
Anything these two touch turns to gold, and I’m honored to be a part of the treasure beneath their rainbow. 🌈 THANK YOU!
