A message from Chancellor Aviles-Ramos:   “There’s so much opportunity for NYC’s leading employers and our school leaders to collectively shape the talent pipeline of this city.   “That’s why I joined Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of @JPMorganChase and Kiersten Barnet, Executive Director of the @nyjobsceocouncil for a fireside chat to discuss @NYCSchools ’ commitment to career-connected learning.   “In collaboration with @nyjobsceocouncil and @JPMorganChase , @NYCSchools seeks to give students relevant work experience and real skills essential for successful career pathways. Together, we also empower the educators, principals, and school counselors who shape the learning environment.     “Thank you to the New York Jobs CEO Council for its work to bridge industry and education.   “We appreciate your ongoing partnership in preparing students for strong transitions into thriving careers.   “Thank you to our Chief of Student Pathways, Melanie Mac, for your continued leadership.   “Thank you to all our Principals from FutureReadyNYC, Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) high schools for joining us.”

IHS-HS was well-represented at the recent Future Ready Community of Practice gathering. Besides giving presentations to peer schools supporting paid internships and early college credits, our own Suly was featured as an exemplar of a student making the most of these opportunities!

Through our Office of Student Pathways and @FutureReadyNYC , we’re providing students with career-readiness skills to take on the world beyond the classroom. We’re proud to be expanding our partnership with @Memorialsloankettering , highlighted in @NYCMayor ’s State of the City Address! #sotc2025 Students at @nycschools represent the future of our city—our future doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, and more. We’re proud to be partnering with @Memorialsloankettering as a @FutureReadyNYC anchor partner to provide students with work-based learning experiences. Programming includes career training, paid internships, and paid apprenticeships in diagnostic medicine/radiologic technology, pre-nursing, cybersecurity, financial services, and business operations. We’re proud to already be partnering with @Memorialsloankettering for our Modern Youth Apprenticeship program. Chancellor Aviles-Ramos sat down with a current student apprentice to learn more about her journey at @Memorialsloankettering (Youtube.com/NYCSchools). We have a lot to look forward to in the new year! This is one of them. Our students are working with Futures and Options to get their I-9 verification complete, and onboarding paperwork submitted for the Spring Internships at Northwell Health. We are so excited for the experiences these students will have at healthcare facilities around the city!

Mayor Eric Adams and Schools Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos unveiled plans Monday to add 36 new schools @nycschools to the Future Ready NYC program, expanding the initiative to 135 schools and adding two new program pathways. During the announcement at Boys and Girls High School @official_bghs in Brooklyn on Dec. 2, the mayor said this expansion aims to equip more students with real-world skills and prepare them for high-wage, high-growth careers, all while addressing the pressing need for a career-connected education in New York City. “Future-ready NYC is a win for young people to win, for our city, and [a] win for our economy,” Mayor Adams said. “Today’s announcement is part of this administration’s continued commitment to give our young people all the tools that they need.”
