Conviction is the brand studio behind Creative Workers Union.
Led by Josh Horton, Conviction partners with founders, leaders, and visionaries to build brands rooted in beliefβnot trends.
From strategy to identity to communication, the work is focused on one thing: Clarity. Helping brands define what they stand for and express it in a way others see, feel, and follow.
Creative Works WEST is built on that same foundation.
Because the work that rises above the noise starts with conviction.

Weβre excited to welcome our own Josh Horton to the main stage at Creative Works WEST β26.
Josh is the founder of the Creative Workers Union, an unapologetic community empowering creative professionals and commercial artists to use their craft for meaningful impact on commerce, communities, and their careers.
For more than a decade, Josh has built a movement centered on craft and the economic resilience and necessity of creative people and their work.
Beyond the Union, he runs Conviction, a brand and strategy studio that helps founders and leaders clarify the beliefs that drive their work and express them through authentic creative that rises above the noise. He also hosts State of the Union, a show dedicated to honest discussions about the realities of creative work today.
At WEST, Josh will host the event and present from the main stage, sharing his convictions about craft and why the future of our industry depends on people who care deeply about what they make.

MENTORSHIP, MAGAZINES & A DESIGN CAREER THAT LASTS β A new episode of State of the Union is out now.
ποΈ In Episode 14, Josh sits down with Gail Anderson (gailycurl), designer, educator, and writer, to talk about building a creative career that spans decades, industries, and generations.
From being a student at SVA to Random House and The Boston Globe, to her long run at Rolling Stone alongside Fred Woodward, Gail reflects on the work, the people, and the principles that shaped her path β and what it means to pass that forward.
They talk about:
β’ What real mentorship actually looks like
β’ Building teams that chase great ideas without ego
β’ Keeping the joy of design without letting work take over your life
β’ Why design education still matters
β’ Whatβs changed for graduates trying to land their first job
β’ Documenting design history β from postage stamps to the impact of Black designers
If youβre trying to build a career that lasts, wondering whether school is worth it, or feeling the pull to give something back to the next generation, this one is for you.
