Introducing “In the days of various light,” the latest solo show by Austin artist @xochisolis 🍋‍🟩 Opening next Friday, May 22 from 7 to 9 PM at @futurefronttexas (1900 E 12th)! ——— With support from @preservationaustin and Future Front, “In the days of various light” is site-specific, community-centered installation by Xochi Solis, reflecting on the cyclical relationships between memory, transformation and collective renewal within Austin’s cultural landscape. Across its duration, the installation acts as a counter-archive, continually reshaped as collages layers and community offerings build upon one another, tracing how the city’s stories are held, altered and carried forward. Building upon Solis’ collage practice rooted in ancestral memory, Tejana identity and the materiality of place, this installation expands from the intimate terrain of her family’s history in East Austin toward a collective ecology of stories. As part of Future Front’s ongoing Community Studio exhibitions, “In the days of various light” reflects the journey of Austin-based multidisciplinary artists like Solis—weaving collaborative and iterative relationships through our city’s local culture. ——— “In the days of various light” opens on May 22 from 7 to 9 PM at 1900 E 12th with light refreshments by @titosvodka . After eight years of creative community service, Future Front’s founding Board President @XochiSolis has completed her term.  ✧˖° Throughout her time at Future Front, Solis contributed to the organization’s name change, established our current advisory and team structures, served as Interim Admin Director in our biggest growth spurts, as well as helped co-found our Residency and VIBE programs.
